By this age your child has entered your local school system, which provides most services needed for your child. If eligible for our services, children are assigned a Service & Support Administrator (SSA) who will assist you in planning for your child, finding community resources, and working collaboratively with your child’s school for services. We can also help with linking families to local child care, and suitable recreational activities, including summer camp resources.
At age 14, we begin exploring future options with you and your child, and start laying the groundwork for independent living and job interests. Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) offers Pre-Employment Transition Services for students with disabilities. Services include Job Exploration Counseling, Counseling for Post-Secondary Opportunities, Worked Based Learning, Workplace Readiness Training, and Instruction in Self Advocacy.
